HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Drug Enforcement Agency will host its annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this weekend.

The national event offers the community an anonymous way to dispose of expired, unused, and unneeded prescription drugs.

The Brownsville Police Department announced Monday that the Valley Regional Medical Center will be participating in the national event.

Unwanted prescriptions can be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Valley Regional Medical Center, located at 100 E. Alton Gloor Blvd.

Two local Veterans Affairs clinics will also participate in Take Back Day.

Everyone, not just Veterans, is welcome to safely dispose of their medication from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Harlingen and McAllen VA locations.

The Harlingen VA Clinic is located at 2106 Treasure Hills Blvd.

The McAllen VA Clinic is located at 901 E Hackberry Ave.

Other local pharmacies, Veterans Affairs clinics, and law enforcement agencies near you participating in Take Back Day can be found on the DEA website.

The unwanted prescription drugs can be dropped off at any of the participating locations between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25.
