Outdoor fitness court now open in San Benito

SAN BENITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday morning to celebrate the grand opening of a fitness court in San Benito.

The outdoor fitness court was developed by the City of San Benito, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and NFC to create access to exercise to the Rio Grande Valley.

The court features seven exercise stations for people of all abilities and fitness levels.

"This is really important because, you know, in our region, we want to provide facilities are easily accessible to the community, and this is actually in walking distance to many of our neighborhoods," said Christina Garcia, Public Relations Officer with the City of San Benito.

The new facility is at Kennedy Park, located off of Freddy Fender Lane.

San Benito is currently in the works to install another outdoor fitness court facillity at a city park.
