One person arrested in San Benito mail theft case

SAN BENITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — One person was arrested in connection with multiple mail package thefts in San Benito.

Jonathan Rangel Meza was arrested for mail theft on Wednesday.

Police opened an investigation into the thefts last week after a door ring camera video gained local attention on social media.

The video shows a person coming out of a vehicle and stealing a package from a victim's front door in broad daylight.

Meza is believed to be the thief in the video.

He was apprehended Wednesday at his house in Santa Rosa, where authorities found Meza hiding in the attic.

Meza is currently being held at the San Benito Police Department, awaiting arraignment.
