One man dead, woman arrested after shooting in rural Mission, says sheriff

MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man is dead and a woman is in custody after a shooting early Monday morning in rural Mission.

According to a social post from the Hidalgo County Sheriff's office, at 1:37 a.m., deputies responded to the 4200 block of J and A Drive for a call of shots fired.

When deputies arrived, they found a 42-year-old man dead inside the home, according to the post.

A witness told authorities a woman was seen running from the location with a rifle.

The woman, as stated by the sheriff, has been detained, and the weapon has been located.

This is an ongoing investigation.
