MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A local non-profit celebrated the unveiling of a bilingual communication board at Bannworth Park in Mission.
The communication board is designed to help non-verbal children connect and communicate while they play.
Leadership Mission Class 41, a non-profit organization, introduced the board, which features more than 72 words and the full alphabet, in both English and Spanish.

The non-profit says the project aims to create a more inclusive city, where everyone, regardless of ability, has a voice.
"These are for children who are non-verbal, or limited verbal, or maybe a student who is having a rough time ... they can now point and speak," said Leadership Mission Class 41 member Jessica Trevino.
Leadership Mission fundraised for months to collect enough for the communication tool, with the hope of making more parks accessible and inclusive across the region.
