KYWW Puro Tejano 1530 AM, a new music radio station serving the Rio Grande Valley from South Padre Island to Starr County, is now live.
Broadcasting from the Chase Tower in McAllen, Latino Media Network’s new addition looks to deliver culturally resonant, locally focused content to the birthplace of Tejano.
“KYWW Puro Tejano 1530 AM is more than a station — it’s a revival of the Valley’s deep-rooted Tejano music culture,” said LMN Texas Regional General Manager Vicky Guerrero. “We’re proud to bring the community a station that reflects their heritage, celebrates their music, and connects listeners across generations with the authentic Tejano sound they love.”
The non-stop Tejano format touts “more music, all day, no interruptions” — as well as a return to radio for on-air personality Bonnie Hernandez.
“It’s been four years and three months since I’ve graced the airwaves,” Hernandez said in a social media video, “but here I am with Latino Media Network. … Join me every morning, 6 … to 10 a.m.”
She added, “I will help make your days better.”
LMN said listeners can expect exclusive on-air giveaways, live community events, and concerts in partnership with local Tejano artists and venues. In addition, KYWW Puro Tejano 1530 AM will also serve as a platform for local voices and strengthen partnerships with regional businesses, cultural institutions and organizations.
The station is available on AM or to stream live via the app Uforia.
“With its powerful signal, the station reaches thousands across the Valley, tapping into a potential audience of over 1 million Hispanics, reinforcing LMN’s presence in one of the most culturally significant markets in Texas,” LMN reported via news release.
