ELSA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The city of Elsa on Friday broke ground on its new community center.
According to the city, the new multi-purpose facility will serve as an essential resource for residents, as well as those living in Edcouch, La Villa, and Monte Alto.
The center will include computer laboratories, meeting rooms, and flexible program spaces to support educational initiatives, civic engagement, and community development.
“This groundbreaking marks an important milestone in the city of Elsa’s ongoing commitment to
enhancing the quality of life for our residents and neighbors throughout the Delta region,” said Elsa City Manager JJ Ybarra. “The Community Center will be a place where individuals of all ages can learn, collaborate, and find support, especially during critical times. It represents a long-term investment in the resilience and well-being of our community.”
The city said the center will play a critical role in emergency preparedness and response such as cooling and warming shelter during periods of extreme weather, providing residents safety in times of need.
The Community Center will be located at Mario Leal Park in Edcouch.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2026.
