NBC23's Sandy Torres participating in local Dancing with the Stars

MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Our very own NBC23 reporter, Sandy Torres, will be participating in this year's Dancing With the Stars event happening this weekend.

The mission of this year's event is to raise funds for the RGV Diabetes Association, a nonprofit organization that raises awareness and provides educational services about diabetes to the community.

Sandy will be dancing country two-step with her dance partner, Oscar Olivares, of DTROCK Dance.

Votes and donations are now being taken for the upcoming event.

Every vote helps raise funds for the RGV Diabetes Association.

Sandy and her dance partner will take it out on the dance floor at 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18.

The event will be held at the Mission Event Center, located at 200 N. Shary Rd.
