Myth Adventures, comic book store founder Helgi Davis dies

McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Helgi Davis, owner and founder of one of the first and biggest comic book stores in Hidalgo County, has passed away, his family announced on social media.

In 1991, Davis, a Vietnam veteran, owner and founder of Myth Adventures, bought a local game shop to house his personal collection.

In 2021, his granddaughter Kali Martinez joined her grandfather and gained a social media presence for the business on Instagram, Facebook and Discord.

"For over thirty years, Myth Adventures was his passion; he had the time of his life creating this space," Martinez said in the social media post. "He loved the hard work, because it wasn’t work to him."

She added that he deeply cared about his customers and went out of his way to make sure they got everything they wanted.

Davis is survived by his wife, daughter and grandchildren.
