Musk announces 10th Starship flight could be in 3 weeks

STARBASE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — SpaceX CEO Elon Musk posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the space company, housed in South Texas, aims to launch its 10th flight in three weeks.

Musk made the post Monday as a reply to an account that posted a space flight edit of the test flights previously conducted at Boca Chica Beach. User @Ivar_A2428 simply posted the video with the caption "When did you get interested in Starship? I first found out about it in the summer of 2020."

In the comments section of that post is where the SpaceX CEO decided to make the announcement for the tenth potential flight of Starship, a reusable rocket that Musk aims to send to Mars to inhabit the red planet.

The announcement comes as SpaceX is still at the forefront of many Cameron County residents' minds after the "anomaly" on June 18, which caused a major explosion at the Massey’s Facility at Starbase, shook homes and startled many.

Last week, ValleyCentral learned that the incidents from that historic night could have caused "catastrophic loss of life" if a second explosion had occurred, according to Brownsville City Manager Helen Ramirez.

ValleyCentral continues to wait on a request under the Texas Public Information Act for the complete conversation between Starbase and Brownsville.

With the announcement of a potential tenth launch, ValleyCentral is looking back at the outcome of the space company's ninth flight, which ended in the loss of both the  Super Heavy Booster and Starship.

Additionally, the Federal Aviation Administration launched an investigation into the ninth flight test, which as of press time has not be known to be closed.
