Multi-violation at Alamo taqueria: inspection report

2 months ago 50

ALAMO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — In tonight’s Food 4 Thought, we’re heading to South Padre Island where many go for seafood, sand, and sun.

But a taco spot is going crazy with spice and a meat market has a lot of dust with no one answering our questions.

Here’s what que rico and what’s que asco in tonight’s segment!

When you head to the beach, you might want some seafood, but, trust the Food Patrol.

Taquitos Locos located on 1817 Padre Blvd. might be the stop you need to make on your South Padre Island plans.

Their Nov. 15 inspection report is making them this week’s Top Performer.

You can’t go wrong with sampling! Locos doesn’t have beer to pair with your tacos, but you can pop a bottle of authentic Mexican Coke or my personal favorite: a Joya.

That’s que rico!

But it’s que asco time.

We’re making quite the drive from the sunny South Padre Island to La Tienda del Pueblo located at 4217 N. Alamo Rd. in Alamo.

Their Nov. 29 inspection report shows 21 violations:

  • Food on the floor
  • Toxic items near food and equipment
  • A leaking sink
  • The meat display where customers pick and choose is off-temperature
  • All surfaces need to be cleaned

The staff didn’t seem bothered when we walked in cameras rolling. They simply pointed to another side of the building.

The employee behind the glass didn’t want to come out and see if the issues on the report were fixed.

We didn’t get any answers for when or if the issues were getting fixed.

The owner told the inspector “he needs more time cause he has two more stores and is working on those first."

This leaves the Food Patrol to believe La Tienda isn’t a priority.
