Motorcyclist dies after crashing in Edinburg neighborhood

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Edinburg police are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that happened Thursday night.

The department's traffic division responded to the accident around 11:20 p.m. on the 2800 block of Larkspur Drive.

Police say the motorcyclist, identified as Damion Hernandez, 28, collided with a metal light pole.

Hernandez died from his injuries shortly after being transported to a local hospital.

The initial investigation indicates that alcohol and excessive speed may have contributed to the incident, according to police.
