More than 886K in alleged cocaine seized at Hidalgo Bridge

HIDALGO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations officers at Hidalgo Port of Entry seized more than $886,000 in narcotics, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

On Wednesday, a CBP officer referred a 44-year-old man, a U.S. citizen, driving a 2016 Dodge Charger, for a secondary inspection.

McAllen man sent to prison for shipping cocaine by postal mail

CBP says packages containing a total of 66.35 pounds of alleged cocaine were found during the secondary examination in the vehicle. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $886,023, according to a news release from CBP.

CBP seized the narcotics and the vehicle.

The Homeland Security Investigations special agents arrested the driver.

The Department of Homeland Security has initiated a criminal investigation.
