WASHINGTON, D.C. (ValleyCentral) — U.S. Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz says Mexico owes us over a million acre feet of water, under a 1944 treaty.

Rep. De La Cruz says she met recently with President Donald Trump about Mexico's lack of compliance in paying a water debt.

She tells us she also met with his legislative staff and the administration.

"Secretary Rubio and President Trump have stopped water coming from a non-treaty agreement that is with the Colorado River. So, Mexico is no longer receiving water from the Colorado River until they give us water that they owe us from the 1944 water treaty," De La Cruz tells ValleyCentral.

De La Cruz says the amount of water Mexico owes us would provide the city of Houston water for three years.
