MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Mission announced its North Water Treatment plant will undergo a temporary shutdown due to the replacement of a critical main electrical breaker.

According to a news release from the City of Mission, the shutdown will take place from Aug. 23 to Aug. 24.

City officials say, during the shutdown, the North Water Plant will be completely offline and advise residents to minimize their water consumption.

This includes no irrigation laws, no filling swimming pools and limiting other non-essential water use to help with the water availability across the community.

The City of McAllen will help the City of Mission throughout the shutdown period to help maintain pressure across the city.

Additionally, South Water Plant will remain fully operational, helping to reduce the disruption to residents and businesses, the release stated.

City officials estimate, the water plant will resume its operations by 5 p.m. on Aug. 24, 2025.
