Mission Police make three arrests in park vandalization

MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Mission Police arrested three people in connection with the vandalization of Lions Park over the weekend.

According to a spokesperson with the City of Mission, 17-year-old Sebastian Marroquin has been charged with criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor. His bond was set at $5,000.

The other two individuals arrested are juveniles. Both are 13 years old and were also charged with criminal mischief.

The recently renovated park's restroom suffered heavy damage. Photos provided by the city show a shattered mirror, broken toilet paper dispensers, and hand soap dispensers mounted off the wall.

Mission Police have also placed a surveillance tower in the parking lot of Lions Park to monitor activity.

The vandalism comes after the city celebrated the park’s reopening in January.
