Mission PD hosts SWAT training exercise event

MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Mission Police Department hosted a SWAT training exercise on Wednesday.

The event was designed to offer real-life critical response scenarios so officers can stay prepared.

Officers were equipped with SWAT gear and weapons for the training, which took place at the Mission Police Department Headquarters and the Cimarron Golf Club.

Art Flores with the Mission Police Department says the training began with officers recreating a hostage scenario by raiding a building and using drones to observe their surroundings.

"It's [the drone] our eyes for us," Flores said.

Officers also learned more about using a drone and how useful it can be to locate a suspect in a real-life scenario.
