A Mission man was arrested Sunday for a May 7 crash in McAllen that left a woman dead.

Hugo Armando Bazan Jr. is charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for the crash that killed Marlene Delgadillo and injured Marissa Delgado Mejia, according to a probable cause affidavit.

McAllen police responded to the crash in the 5100 block of Buddy Owens Boulevard that day in reference to a major crash between a gray 2019 Toyota Camry driven by Bazan and a silver 2016 Ford Fiesta driven by Marissa Delgado Mejia.

“The front passenger of the Ford Fiesta was identified as Ms. Marlene Delgadillo,” the affidavit stated.

That document does not indicate what time the crash happened.

A witness to the crash told police that Bazan was driving eastbound on Buddy Owens Boulevard at a high rate of speed and disregarded a red light before he crashed into the Ford Fiesta.

Bazan remains held in the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center on a total of $150,000 in bonds.
