A 56-year-old Mission man is under arrest for stealing a drum set, sound equipment, two air-conditioning units and 20 metal chairs with red cushion seats from a church.
In a news release, the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the church located in the 6700 block of Navaho Street at 7:52 p.m. on April 9.
“Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim, who reported that several items were missing from the church’s storage room,” the release stated.
Deputies noticed that the storage room had signs of forced entry.
On April 11, investigators interviewed witnesses who said they saw a truck at the church with men loading items onto it.
“Investigators secured surveillance footage of the suspect vehicle and were able to obtain the license plate information,” the release stated.
They tracked that information to a residence in the 8000 block of West Military Road in Mission where they found Noe Garza, who confessed to the burglary, according to the release.
Garza was booked into the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center on Tuesday and he received a $10,000 bond on Wednesday.
He remains jailed.
