MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Mission is hosting its 3rd annual Autism Awareness Month event.
The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, at the All-Inclusive Lions Park, located at 1500 E. Kika De La Garza Loop.
City officials say they aim to bring awareness, fostering acceptance and honoring the strength and uniqueness of those with autism in the family-friendly celebration.
"This event is about celebrating our families while promoting acceptance, understanding, and inclusion," said Mayor Norie Gonzalez Garza.
The event will feature a superhero theme, which aims to highlight the resilience, individuality and spirit of every member of the autism community.
During the festivities, the community can enjoy free food, kiddie rides, games and community resources.
