MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Mission firefighter was arrested on sexual assault charges, officials confirmed with ValleyCentral.
Juan Luis Garcia Jr., 50, has been charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony, according to the McAllen Police Department.
He was arrested Monday, arraigned Tuesday and issued a bond of $50,000.
ValleyCentral reached out to Garcia's employer, the City of Mission for comment on the arrest and received the following statement:
"The City of Mission Fire Department is aware of the recent arrest of one of our firefighters. At this time, the City has not been provided information regarding the reason for the arrest or the charges. Once the City receives information we will proceed in accordance with City policies and take action if necessary."
