MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Mission Fire Department hosted its pushed in ceremony Tuesday to induct its newest ambulance into service.
"It's a momentous day for us because we are bringing into the city of Mission and its a partnership with Hidalgo County, we are bringing in our fourth ambulance," Adrian Garcia, Mission Fire Chief, said.
The ambulance will be used to serve the residents of Mission but also parts of Hidalgo County.
It is a mobile intensive care unit equipped with tools and medications to respond to traumas, cardiac arrests, and much more.
The ambulance can transport three people with minor injuries at once and one person with a major injury or trauma along with one minor.
The vehicle was blessed with holy water before being pushed out for service Tuesday afternoon.
The Chief spoke about its new EMT program to ensure more firefighters are trained to help in emergency care.
"Our goal in the future is to also have advanced EMT and basic EMT courses as well," Garcia said.
