Mexico man pleads guilty to possession of child porn while crossing into Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Mexican man who attempted to cross the border in Brownsville last year with child porn has pleaded guilty, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

On June 30, 2023, Kevin Alejandro Santos-Moya, 21, attempted to cross into Brownsville through the Los Indios Port of Entry. The Mexican national was referred to a secondary inspection on that day where authorities searched his iPhone and found child porn on it.

A more thorough forensic analysis of the phone resulted in the finding of 31 images and 39 videos of child porn.

U.S. District Judge Fernando Rodriguez Jr. accepted Santos-Moya's guilty plea and has set sentencing for Sept. 5. At that time, Santos-Moya faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a possible maximum fine of $250,000.

Santos-Moya has been and will remain in custody pending sentencing.
