HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Mexican Military trucks were spotted in the Rio Grande Valley on Wednesday morning, being escorted by state officials.
A convoy was spotted by our ValleyCentral team on Interstate 69 in Harlingen. We were able to capture a photo and some video of the trucks being escorted by the Texas Department of Public Safety, and Border Patrol on the interstate.
DPS told ValleyCentral the Ejercito Mexicano or Mexican military, as marked on their green fleet of Humvees, is being escorted to the Louisiana state line for training with the U.S. military.
Director of Army North Public Affairs, Colonel Beth R. Smith, said U.S. service members and members from the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (DEFENSA) will participate in a military training exercise at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, Louisiana.
"Participating in this exercise demonstrates the enduring military-to-military partnership between our two nations," Smith said. "Training objectives include improving operational compatibility, developing and refining tactical processes and procedures, and building relationships between partners. By participating in this exercise, both countries will increase their understanding of each other’s tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) and demonstrate our mutual commitment to North American defense."
Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, or JRTC, focuses on improving unit readiness by providing highly realistic, stressful, joint and combined arms training across the full spectrum of conflict.
