Mercedes ISD superintendent arrested on DWI charges

 MERCEDES, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Mercedes Independent School District Superintendent was arrested Friday on charges of driving while intoxicated, Cameron County Jail Records show.

Benjamin Alexander Clinton was arrested on Friday, May 16, by the Texas Department of Public Safety and issued a bond of $2,500, records state.

He was later released on bond.

Two killed in McAllen crash; intoxication suspected

According to a previous ValleyCentral article, Clinton was named superintendent of Mercedes ISD on Feb. 1.

ValleyCentral reached out to DPS and Mercedes ISD for a comment.
