BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Two men were arrested on Sunday for brandishing a firearm and leading police on a chase, authorities say.

A news release from Cameron County Constable Precinct 1 stated that, around 7:30 p.m., an Air & Marine CBP agent observed a white GMC truck parked along State Highway 48.

The male passenger, identified as Esteban Luis Angel Macias, was seen standing outside of the vehicle holding an AR-style rifle.

Esteban Luis Angel Macias and Leonardo Perez arrested by Cameron County Precinct 1 Constable's Office.

As the CBP agent drove to the location to make contact with the men, he witnessed and heard Macias discharge the firearm toward the Jaime Zapata Boat Ramp, where families, pedestrians, and vehicles were present, the release stated.

Leonardo Perez, the driver of the truck, fled the scene, leading police on a chase westbound on SH 48 into the Seatrium Amfels parking lot, and then eastbound. There, the truck came to a stop approximately half a mile east of the boat ramp.

Constables reported that no one was injured during the incident or the apprehension of the men. Both individuals were safely taken into custody, and appropriate charges were filed.
