Memorial Day silent march held in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A silent walk was held this morning in Brownsville in observance of Memorial Day.

This is the 25th annual silent march held by Tribute to the Troops.

Members of the community, Valley Veterans and their families participated in the one-mile march.

The march began on the corner of HEB on Central Boulevard and Boca Chica and ended at Brownsville Veteran's Park, next to the public library with ceremonies. A 21 flag salute and flag raising concluded Monday's Memorial Day observance.

Participants were asked to bring lawn chairs, umbrellas, and dress in their favorite patriotic wear. Refreshments and water were provided by Cobbleheads, Commissioner Linda Macias, the Brownsville Marathoners Running Club, Warriors United in Arms, VFW, The American Legion, Brownsville Vietnam Veterans Club and the City of Brownsville and City Parks.
