RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Democratic candidates Michelle Vallejo and John Villarreal Rigney will face off in the Texas' 15th Congressional District primary election race.

Vallejo announced the launch of her campaign for U.S. Representative of District 15 last year in May.

According to Vallejo's campaign, she is advocating for affordable health care and education for all who reside within District 15.

Vallejo's background coming from a family of farm workers, immigrants and entrerpreneurs has led her campaign to support small businesses and expanding opportunities for migrants seeking asylum.

Pharr attorney John Villarreal Rigney announced his run for the Texas 15th Congressional District race last year in February.

Rigney's campaign states his stance for representation to people providing for their families by means of affordable health care and quality education.

His background as a son of a veteran brings his campaign to emphasize protecting and honoring veterans and providing them with opportunities.

Whoever wins will go against the Republican victor in the general election.
