McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The McAllen Salvation Army assisted those affected by severe flooding across the Valley.
According to a news release from the McAllen Salvation Army, the organization established and supplanted a disaster response operation that will assist residents for several days.
When the McAllen Salvation Army Incident Management Team and feeding crews arrived, they began their assessment in Starr, Hidalgo, Cameron, and Willacy Counties.
On Saturday, the organization reported that they provided 1,122 meals, 1,361 drinks, and 960 snacks to the affected residents and first responders.
The Salvation Army continues to help the community on Sunday at the McAllen Corps and Mercedes Community Center and provide essential supplies such as clean-up and hygiene kits, water, and other emergency items.
