McAllen's new fire station opens in rapidly growing area

MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — On Thursday, the city of McAllen mayor, city commissioners, and the McAllen Fire Department held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for Fire Station #8.

The fire station will serve the residents of the Tres Lagos area, which is the largest and fastest-growing area of the city.

The 10,547 square foot facility includes a kitchen, dining room, dayroom, dispatch area, fitness room, dorms, office space, equipment storage, and utility rooms.

It will house one fire truck and four firefighters, with provisions for one additional fire truck and personnel when the need arises, according to the city.
