MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — All three McAllen public library locations are offering patrons a full month of forgiveness to return overdue items throughout April.

The McAllen Public Library is set to launch its 9th annual Amnesty Month, offering patrons the opportunity to return overdue library materials without the consequence of paying any fines.

"Amnesty Month serves a dual purpose: encouraging the return of overdue items to our shelves while also welcoming back patrons who may have stayed away due to fines," said Kate Horan, Library Director.

Starting April 1 through May 4, patrons can return any overdue books, CDs, DVDs and blu-rays, regardless of how long the items have been overdue.

Once the items are returned, patrons will have the overdue fines removed from their account.

Overdue items can be returned to any of the McAllen Public Library branch locations.
