McAllen police officer arrested in Dallas

MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An off-duty McAllen police officer was arrested in Dallas, the McAllen Police Department announced.

McAllen Police Sergeant Ismael Cruz, 25, was arrested on Feb. 24. and charged with assault contact family violence, according to a release from McAllen PD.

According to Dallas PD, Cruz was off-duty and with family when the incident occurred.

"Sgt. Cruz has been ordered to report this arrest, charge, and disposition to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and to the McAllen Police Department," McAllen PD said in the release.

McAllen PD has initiated an administrative investigation and placed Cruz on restricted duty.
