McAllen PD: auto theft suspects arrested

MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) —  A San Benito man allegedly involved in an auto theft has been arrested, according to the McAllen Police Department.

On Saturday, the McAllen Police Department arrested Rodolfo Castillo Jr, 26, for collaborating with three other men to steal a Dodge Ram pickup on May 26 from the 100 block of S. 15th St.

The criminal complaint states that the McAllen Police Department received a report on May 26 from the Hidalgo Police Department advising that they had stopped the stolen Ram 1500 at the Hidalgo Port of Entry as it was about to drive outbound into Mexico.

McAllen Police arrived at the location and placed both suspects under arrest for theft.

The two suspects were identified as Antonio Chavero Jr, 27, and Francisco Elizondo Jr, 38.

After interviewing them, the investigator learned that they had stopped at the Stripes in McAllen, located at 102 S. 23rd St, after stealing the Dodge Ram, says the criminal complaint.

The investigator learned from the Stripes' surveillance video that Castillo drove a Tundra to drop off the suspects at the auto theft location, then escorted them out to the Hidalgo Port of Entry.

Castillo was issued a $20,000 bond for motor vehicle theft and a $50,000 bond for engaging in organized criminal activity.

Chavero was issued a $35,000 bond for motor vehicle theft and a $15,000 bond for theft of a firearm. He was also issued a bond of $10,000 for engaging in organized criminal activity.

Elizondo was issued a $35,000 bond for motor vehicle theft and a $15,000 bond for theft of a firearm. He was also issued a $10,000 bond for engaging in organized criminal activity.
