McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A McAllen man was sentenced to federal prison for the production of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.
On Nov. 27, 2023, 24-year-old Jacon Ryan Arredondo pleaded guilty to his charges.
In August 2023, a referral from the National Center for Mission and Exploited Children brought attention to Arrendondo.
A Google account had uploaded sexual abuse material of minor males, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
The investigation later revealed the identity of one of the victims.
Arredondo admitted to sexually abusing the minor and recording it on his cell phone. A forensic examination showed a total of 234 images and seven videos of the victim on his phone.
The release stated, the abuse began when the minor was only 10 years old and continued for two years.
During the hearing, the court discovered how Arrendondo took advantage of his relationship with the victim. The minor stated he had kept the secret for two years because he feared Arredondo due to his size and age, the release stated.
The U.S. District Judge Drew B. Tipton sentenced Arredondo to 30 years in federal prison, followed by 15 years of supervised release.
He will also be ordered to register as a sex offender and will have to comply with requirements designed to restrict his access to children and the internet.
