McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of McAllen announced that the McAllen Public Works crew is actively collecting debris and brush following Thursday's heavy rainfall.

McAllen Public Works crews have been cleaning up the city and removing debris left from the storm.

City officials advise residents the following tips to help crew members:

  • Residents are asked to place all debris and brush on the curbside.
  • The City of McAllen reminds the public to utilize the BAG IT! Program: Residents can pick up 20 free compostable bags per month at various city facilities to dispose of grass clippings and leaves. These bags help in the composting process and keep the city clean.

The City of McAllen wants to remind the public to be patient as city work crews are making their way through the city.
