McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of McAllen is celebrating the completion of its Dove Avenue Roadway Extension and Drainage Improvement Project.

The improvements will serve the immediate vicinity of the new Dove Avenue and Bentsen Road intersection and improve regional connectivity with adjoining municipalities to the east and west.

"We want to improve mobility in this part of town especially," said Omar Quintanilla, McAllen Mayor Pro-Tem. "Be able to look at the edges of McAllen. Not only the west side but also the eastside to make sure we're not missing any parts of the city where we can help to improve the traffic."

The roadway improvements scope of work included:

  • Construction of a quarter mile, four-lane urban roadway and curb and gutter from Bentsen Rd. to 41st St.
  • A five-foot sidewalk on both sides of Dove Ave.
