MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Victor 'Seby' Haddad, McAllen City Commissioner District 5, announced Thursday his candidacy for Texas House District 41 in the 2026 election.
"I believe our community deserves a strong and steady voice in Austin. I want to bring the same practical approach we use here at home to the state level, always putting families and local businesses first," Haddad announced in his candidacy press release.
Haddad adds in his release that as a City Commissioner, his focus has been on strengthening the community through improvements to infrastructure and supporting small businesses to grow.
His background as a community banker and a small business owner gives him a deep understanding of the economic challenges that South Texas faces.
According to the release, his past role as President of Texas Municipal League Region 12 prepared him for larger regional issues.
Texas House District 41 includes McAllen, Sharyland in Mission, and parts of Edinburg and Pharr.
The primary election is scheduled for March 3, 2026, and the general election will take place on November 3, 2026.
