McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of McAllen has two new commissioners, according to unofficial election results.

At 7:53 p.m. Saturday, McAllen Director of Communications Xochitl Mora released unofficial election results for the city's two races.

For McAllen City Commission District 1, Tony Aguirre led the race with 980 votes to Timothy Wilkins' 494.

In the District 3 race Rolando Rios led with 500 votes to Omar Quintanilla's 374.

These results come just 21 hours after the City of McAllen announced it was working alongside Election Systems and Software LLC., a third-party election software vendor, to identify and resolve any potential software errors in the voting process for Saturday's election.

At 10:32 p.m. on Friday, May 2, the City of McAllen sent out a notice regarding protocols being set in place for the May 3 elections.

May 3 Local Election Results

According to a news release from Mora, the city received a complaint of a potential irregularity in the voting process for the District 3 election.

Upon receiving the complaint, city officials notified ES&S LLC., a registered U.S. Election Assistance Commission and certified by the Texas Secretary of State, a third-party election software vendor.

According to Mora, the possible software errors are limited to the District 3 race. The city and ES&S LLC. have independently verified that "not a single vote" in the District 1 race has been compromised by the irregularity.

City officials assure that multiple protocols have been put in place for the May 3 election.

ValleyCentral reached out to Mora for comment on the incident but has not heard back.
