PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Matt's Building Materials opened its doors two years after a massive fire destroyed the store.
The original store was completely New Year's Day 2022.
Multiple fire departments responded to the blaze, which took 30 hours to be extinguished.
The grand re-opening took place Sunday at 404 E. Expressway 83, where the new 90,000-square-foot store welcomed customers.
The store featured a return of departments and products Matt's was known for.
"We can't wait to see all the hard work we put into, it's been a lot of hard work, and a lot of effort," said Isaac Smith, co-owner of Matt's Building Materials. "This is a family business so we take a lot of pride in that."
The owners of Matt's Building Materials give credit to the community for the motivation to re-build the store.
They added the messages of support owners received to a gallery at the entrance of the store.
