"Manic" brings mental health awareness with a comedic twist

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Joe Rios, Jimena Escobar, and Arnie Herrera with the upcoming movie, "Manic" stopped by the ValleyCentral studios to discuss their project.

The movie, according to Rios, follows Lexi Gomez, who after a bad manic episode causes her to get into some serious trouble with some bad people. She must now use her severe bipolar manic episodes to defeat the bad guys all with the help of Benny, a relic childhood plush who speaks to her to help her along the way.

Escobar says the movie is about mental health awareness, but with a comedic twist to bring awareness.

It’s an original idea and we have plans to release the movie on Tubi and Amazon Prime once it has finished post-production by next year.

Rios, Escobar, and Herrera say they have a GoFundMe to help with the movie's expenses.
