SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The man who jumped off the Queen Isabella Causeway in an attempt to flee from police is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
The arraignment is scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the South Padre Island Municipal Court.
On Monday, the South Padre Island Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a man's vehicle, which led to a pursuit.
According to an Air and Marine Operations Spokesperson, during the foot chase, the man jumped off the Queen Isabela Causeway, and the Coast Guard sent out a distress call for his rescue.
AMO were the first to respond to the scene, followed by the Coast Guard.
The man was reported to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries after his jump and was found with a few abrasions clinging to a pillar.
While in recovery, the man allegedly gave a false name to authorities and is now in SPI PD custody.
