PROGRESO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — United States Customs and Border Protection detained a man wanted in Austin in connection with a sexual crime.
On July 14, CBP officers referred Roberto Medina, a 19-year-old U.S. citizen, from the Progreso International Bridge for a secondary inspection, according to a news release from CBP.
Medina was escorted to a subsequent biometric verification through law enforcement databases, which later confirmed he had a warrant out for his arrest for sexual assault issued by the Austin Police Department, the release stated.
Medina was turned over to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office for transport and adjudication of the warrant.
