Man shot in overnight dispute at Edinburg apartments

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A dispute over property ended in gunfire Thursday night in Edinburg.

At 8:48 p.m. Edinburg Police were dispatched to the 3300 block of Colt Lane in reference to gunfire. When they got to the residence they were flagged down by a citizen who reported hearing gunshots and seeing a blue SUV drive away at a high rate of speed.

Officers assessed the area and found a trail of blood coming from a carport. Police followed the trail and found a man who said his friend had been shot in the chest and was being transported to DHR Health. When police entered the apartment where this took place they found various drugs that have not been listed.

Additionally one man was arrested on drug charges at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Matthew Fraustro, who remains in critical condition.

A preliminary search of the incident indicates to police that the victim and the suspect know each other and were arguing over property.

The suspect reportedly left the scene and has not been found.
