BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man is being held on a quarter million-dollar bond after videos of child pornography were found on his phone, authorities said.
Kevin Contreras, 29, was arrested on five counts of possession of child pornography, Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz announced.
According to Saenz, Contreras was arrested June 14 by investigators with the DA's office, along with assistance from FBI special agents.
A news release stated that Contreras was referred for a secondary inspection while trying to enter the U.S. through the Gateway International Bridge. During the inspection, authorities searched his cellphone, where they found multiple videos and pictures of child pornography, the release stated.
"This investigation is ongoing and Contreras could be facing additional charges," the release stated.
Contreras, who is a U.S. citizen, was arraigned and his bond was set at $250,000. He remains jailed in Cameron County.
