Man in custody after cutting two construction workers with saw on SPI

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas (ValleyCentral) — One person is in custody after cutting two people with a saw on South Padre Island Friday afternoon, authorities say.

Cameron County Park Rangers Chief Horacio Zamora confirmed that at 3:20 p.m. on county beach access 3 some subcontractors were conducting construction at the island.

Four men were working at the construction site when one allegedly grabbed a circular construction saw and attacked another worker.

The man then attacked a second victim, whom he cut in the arm and leg.

Cameron County Sheriff Manuel Trevino said three people were transported to the hospital from this incident.

The suspect in the case is being charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a deadly weapon. The identity of the suspect has not been released at this time.
