Man gets 100 years for child sexual abuse

CAMERON COUNTY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A 43-year-old man was sentenced to 100 years for continuous sexual abuse of a child, the Cameron County District Attorney's Office stated.

Jose Isabel Resendez III was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact.

According to a news release from the Cameron County District Attorney's Office, on July 27, 2021, the Combes Police Department received a report from the victim's mother.

During the investigation, it was determined that the abuse occurred between 2016 and 2020 during the victim's weekend visits with Resendez.

Investigators gathered evidence and witness statements that supported the victim's testimony.

Resendez was sentenced to 80 years for the charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child and 20 years for indecency with a child by sexual contact, totaling 100 years in prison.
