BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Mexican citizen attempting to enter the U.S. through the Brownsville bridge was sent to prison for being caught with child pornography.
Kevin Alejandro Santos-Moya, 22, pleaded guilty to being in possession of child sexual abusive material on May 30, 20204.
On June 30, 2023, he attempted to cross into Brownsville through the Los Indios Port of Entry.
He was referred to secondary inspection where they conducted a search of his iPhone and found 31 images and 37 videos of child sexual abuse material/
A judge sentenced Santos-Moya to five years in federal prison as well as 10 years of supervised release, following completion of his sentencing.
Additionally, the court ordered him to pay $3,000 in restitution to a known victim.
After he gets out of prison Santos-Moya will have limited access to children and the internet and he will be forced to register as a sex offender.
Santos-Moya will remain in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future.
