Man charged with intoxication assault after auto-ped crash: McAllen PD

McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man who was allegedly driving while intoxicated was arrested in relation to an auto-pedestrian crash that left a person hospitalized, McAllen police said.

William Brent Smith, of McAllen, was charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury and unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to Officer Olivia Lopez with the McAllen Police Department.

The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. Saturday at the 700 block of Convention Center Blvd in McAllen.

Police say the pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the crash.

Smith's bond was set at $11,000. He was released Sunday.
