HIDALGO COUNTY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man accused of shooting and killing his brother during a domestic dispute in rural Edinburg has been indicted on a murder charge, according to Hidalgo County court records.
David Flores is accused of shooting Gilberto Flores on Feb. 28.
Witnesses at the scene told investigators that Gilberto was involved in a domestic dispute with his family members, including David, when David reportedly pulled out a handgun and shot Gilberto twice.
Gilberto was found with gunshot wounds and taken to a local hospital. David was initially booked into Hidalgo County jail on an aggravated assault charge on March 1.
Investigators upgraded David’s charges to first-degree murder after Gilberto died at the hospital.
Days later, David was released from jail on a $100,00 bond, records show.
A grand jury indicted David Flores in September.
An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Oct. 27.
