ALAMO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A criminal complaint obtained by ValleyCentral details the string of events that led to an Alamo shooting that left a woman dead over the weekend.

Jorge Saldaña-Gonzalez, 44, is charged with murder in the first degree, according to a previous ValleyCentral report.

At 10:55 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, authorities were dispatched to Sandra's Bar, located at the 100 block of North 7th Street, regarding an unresponsive woman.

At the scene, authorities saw two men standing by a vehicle and a crying woman holding the victim Ana Maria Davila.

According to the complaint, Saldaña-Gonzalez told investigators he went to the bar and saw Davila hugging another man at the establishment.

He told investigators that when he saw her hugging the other man, he felt "hurt and angry." He asked Davila to go outside with him to talk.

In the complaint, Saldaña-Gonzalez said he was upset because he thought they were "fixing their relationship," but they started to argue.

"The defendant stated he was hurt, and it seemed easy due to him being mad... but the first shot was an accident and the second one was done," the complaint detailed.

Responding officers interviewed a witness who said Davila walked out of the bar to talk to her ex-boyfriend, identified as Saldaña-Gonzalez.

The witness said when she went outside to check on Davila, she found her unresponsive on the floor.

Officers said Davila had blood on the back of her head and abdomen area. The witness told investigators that Saldaña-Gonzalez and Davila had walked out of the bar when a woman approached her saying she had heard gunshots.

She added that once she saw Davila on the ground, Saldaña-Gonzalez left the scene, also describing the vehicle he was driving.

Moments later, investigators began searching for the matching vehicle through a database, which led them to Saldaña-Gonzalez's home in Edinburg.

He was arrested and taken to the Alamo Police Department, where he was interviewed by investigators. During the interview, Saldaña-Gonzalez confessed to shooting Davila.

Officers said the suspect told them the gun he used to shoot his ex-girlfriend was black, however, he did not know the brand of the handgun. He confessed to investigators of shooting Davila twice before fleeing the scene.

The defendant also told investigators he left and went onto Business 83 before turning northbound and throwing the gun somewhere on Valverde Road.

Saldaña-Gonzalez added he is unsure where exactly he threw the gun, the complaint stated. Additionally, he mentioned he was wearing the clothing he had when he was with Davila.

Hidalgo County Jail records show that Saldaña-Gonzalez had been arrested previously for stalking, aggravated assault, family violence with a weapon, assault causing bodily injury, family violence and violation of a protective order.

He was arraigned on Sunday afternoon and is being held without bond.
